The cat jumps out !!! The fish got caught by the mouth !!!

Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle was talking too much of things recently. It looks as if he was revealing all the secrets of LTTE and Mahinda Rajapaskha in the meantime The Minister of Highways and the Government Chief Whip Jeyaraj Fernandopulle vital information that proved that the president Mahinda Rajapakse had a serious urgency to build up a connections with the LTTE.

According to Fernandopulle, President's Adviser Basil Rajapakse met Mano Ganeshan, MP and the Leader of the Western People's Front to discuss the matter.

The Minister revealed this at the cabinet press briefing held today at the Department of Information.

Minister Fernandopulle was commenting on the statement made by Mano Ganeshan at the 'Janarala' rally held in the Hyde Park on 26 July, that Fernandopulle and Basil Rajapakse went to Ganeshan's house and discussed the possibility to obtain the LTTE's support.

Minister Fernandopulle admitted that he met Ganeshan and dined with him too, after a lengthy discussion.

Fernandopulle said that Ganeshan said that he had links with the LTTE and the members of the LTTE stayed with him when they came to Colombo. The discussion aimed not to give money to the LTTE and Ganeshan promised to discuss with Thamilchelvan to obtain support to Mahinda Rajapakse's Presidential campaign although he did not keep that promise, said Minister Fernandopulle.

The Minister further said that Ganeshan asked for a deputy minister portfolio and it was difficult to be granted at the moment as the President was Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarathunga. MP Mano Ganeshan supported UNP candidate Ranil Wickramasinghe in the Presidential election.

When Lanka-e-News enquired from Mano Ganeshan about Fernandopulle's allegation he said that he did not agree to obtain an appointment from the LTTE on Fernandopulle's and Basil Rajapakse's request as the Western People's Front was supporting Ranil Wickramasinghes Presidential campaign by then.

He vehemently denied requesting a deputy ministerial portfolio and said that he would definitely ask for a vice presidency if he was to make such request.

Ganeshan said that the Fernandopulle and Basil Rajapakse genuinely wanted a link with the LTTE and therefore they came to his house and discussed. He further said that if Fernandopulle said that he invited him for the discussion, the sheer fact would also prove that the current rule needed a connection to the LTTE then.
