Former Army spokesman and MP Major General Sarath Munasinghe warns that the LTTE is now gearing them self up to gain territory in the Jaffna Peninsula. He said therefore the situation is now turning bad.

Major Sarath Munasinghe has served the Army for over 30 years and has also been the commanding officer of the Northern Peninsula.

Addressing the media in Colombo this morning he said the attack launched by the LTTE in the seas off Delft early this morning, is a hint of what is being lined up. He said if the LTTE holds on to the island it would be a major disruption in providing supplies to the northern parts of the island.

Munasinghe briefed the media about the tactics of the LTTE. "LTTE has fired to Palali from the Punarin area using 130mm artilleries which has the capacity of firing 27 kilometers. Generally when such artilleries are being fired troops run for shelter. When they get in to the bunkers they can see a part of the land but not the sky. That is what happened the other day in Palali. First they fired artilleries and then a LTTE air craft and bombed the place.

The LTTE posses more than two air craft. Air craft came to Colombo bombed and went back to the Wanni without any disruptions. Some media reported this saying that LTTE air craft were chased away. If they can come to Colombo and bomb they could easily bomb the northern peninsula which is about 10 minutes away from them. So this is the situation in Palali and the situation of the troops there."

He added that Defense spokesperson minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that LTTE air craft will be destroyed if they are air borne once again, but challenges Rambukwella to give an assurance regarding the matter.

Major Munasinghe said at least now politics should be set aside to establish peace in the island because security forces are compromising many a things for the country.

The "horn" or the "ear" ???

There's an old saying in sinhala, saying "The horn that came last is better than the ear that came first". Anura Bandaranaike who has been the opposition leader, Speaker of Parliament, and a MP for more than two decades has been defeated by Mr. Karu Jayasuriya who's still 7 years old as a MP.

UNP parliamentarian Karu Jayasuriya who joined the government recently has been appointed as the Chairman of the Gampaha district coordinating committee removing Minister Anura Bandaranaike from the post.

The appointment has been made by President Mahinda Rajapakse. This has been informed to the Gamapha office in writing by the presidential secretariat. Meanwhile Chief minister Reginald Cooray has been appointed as the Co-chairman.

Accordingly the committee will meet under the patronage of Jayasuriya on the 1st of June. The details of the meeting has been informed to the relevant members of the committee by a letter issued with the signature of Karu Jayasuriya.

Who's speaking the truth ???

Last week, there was a similar news like this one saying Tissa Attanayake and Ranil having disagreements regarding Ranil's leadership. The next day, Tissa Attanayake said it was a fraud and there are no conflicts. We'll have to wait and see the actual truth about this one also. But for the time being this is the news...

As the internal conflict between UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and Tissa general secretary Attanayake intensifies the Ranil group has pulled out from supporting Attanayake's political moves.

Tissa Attanayake has organized a massive campaign to join in 10,000 party members from his electorate which is Kundasale and has invited several minister and provincial councilors but Akila Kariyawasam and Sagala Rathnnayake who are working under the instructions of the UNP leader have refused the invitation.

The general secretary has told some of his close friends that the opposition leader wants people like him to be peons of his.

Johnston Fernando, Vajira Abeywardena, Laksman Senevirathne and Thalatha Athukorala have informed that they would be present at the function in Kundasale.

It is also being reported that Johnston Fernando, who was working tirelessly for the restructuring process of the party, is not in good terms with the leadership. One of the reasons for it is the orders that were sent to him and the party's general secretary to stop a news letter that was being published for the circulation among the party members.

The UNP leadership has also told those relevant persons not involve Attanayake for the future press conferences as well.

Rohana Gamage speaks...

Commander Rohana Gamage who was serving in the Navy intelligence unit as its coordinator in the Vavuniya district on the request of the president and the defense ministry, and then remanded and freed on the charges of having connections with the LTTE, has requested the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and JVP leader Somawanse Amarasinghe asking them to intervene and make sure that nothing of that sort happens against.

In his letter the Major reminds that the government media seriously criticized him charging him of divulging information of defense matters. He goes on to say that though he was later released saying that he had no such connections or divulged any information to the terrorist the damage caused to his character has not been repaired.

He goes on to say that he was planning to sit for his masters degree after the bachelors degree but is not in a position to carry out his education as he has been labeled as a terrorist ally.

Commander Rohana Gamage goes on to say that his wife and children even cannot travel on road as they have to under go verbal harassment which means he cannot even live a normal life. He say due to this he has to now live hidden and secretly.

He said due to this situation, he cannot obtain visa to fly abroad and that he is receiving constant death threats. He said not only him the two theras who participated at the media briefing held by his wife are being threatened.

Rohana Gamage therefore requests all concerned to make an effort to stop such things happening here after.
