The talk of the town in the political circles now is the purchase of a Rs. 42 million 'Aston Martin DB9' car by the son of a government bigwig.UNP parliamentarian Lakshman Kiriella said at a press briefing that the tax-free value of this brand is Rs. 21 million. The high-speed car cannot be driven on Sri Lankan roads and it is reportedly driven on Galle Face Drive with back up vehicles around 2 AM.
Mr. Kiriella urged the investigative media to reveal who the owner of this car.
James Bond used an 'Aston Martin DB9' in Casino Royal movie. The super son of the bigwig also drives a car of that brand now in late nights. The Sri Lanka agent of the vehicle is Auto Lanka.
This car has been imported to Sri Lanka under the name of Dilshan Fernando, the son of the owner of Christy Lanka Garments.

Isn't the Aston shown in the pictures the one that came down some time ago and was brought down by a businessman in SL? I've heard Namal got one as well but I've seen these pics awhile back.

Its such a damn shame man!!! it maybe the sweetest eye candy we've seen here in awhile, but its too good a car to be driven just so some rich kid can show off. It should be burning the asphalt off the roads somewhere, not getting babysitted by a bunch of beat-up backup "intercoolers" while crawling around @ 30,40 kmph.
Namal or any other sons of the President do not have an Aston Martin. The only confirmed DB9 in Sri Lanka is owned by the son of a wealthy businessman and it's been imported several months ago.
There are yet-to-be-subsantiated rumours that another Aston Martin is owned by Malaka Silva, son of Mervyn - hence the flowery analogy.
Of course this car can be driven in Sri Lankan roads.

Whether it is Namal or Malaka or even Rosa Mala, the fact of the matter is that those politico's in power are misusing their positions to acquire such expensive vehicles purely to show off. If they can substantiate how they earned the monies to buy these expensive toys we could give them some room for justification that they have the right to own these cars. Any damn fool wiull know that these jokers are playing games with the coffers. And Mervyn would probably say that he inherited the cash from his ancestor, Dutugemunu just like Prabahkaran can claim that his right to the Island hails from his connections to Elara. What a crazy circus we live in?
