UNP Secretary Thissa Aththanayaka said that the President, in fear of the ruling party internal tendencies to change sides at a critical moment, had phoned certain UNP MPs and proposed to give money and posts in the government.
Mr. Aththanayaka expressed sympathy for the condition the President had fallen to go after UNP MPs instead of solving the serious problems of the country.
The Secretary expressed these views at a press briefing held at the residence of the Opposition Leader to thank the public for the participation in the Janarala anti government campaign on 26th July at Colombo.
Mr. Aththanayaka said that the campaign would be held country wide until the government would be sent home. The series of campaigns schedule is as follows: August 10 - Mathara, August 17 - Anuradhapura, August 24 - Nittambuwa and September 8 - Hambanthota, the home district of the President.
